Skipton Castle Wood Bench Carving

August 14, 2017

This is the stone bench that I hand carved a poem into, which was writen by Hazel the wood manager. I had to carve 153 letters at 100mm high into the Yorkshire stone flags, this was a big task especially with the setup and spacing. Through awful torrential rain, I took shelter under my trusty tarpaulin shelter so i could continue my work. After 6 grueling days (4 of them wet) I completed the task. Here are some pictures of the progress (when it was dry).

If you would like to visit Skipton Castle Woods its sign posted from the town centre, the bench is situated just past the round dam.
